Company Information
EMI was started as a division of Edwards Manufacturing Inc., a
Northwest company started in 1926. The distribution, repair and
packaging division came into its own under Jim Pentz as President,
from 1988 to 2000. During this time the company focused on the semiconductor
business and became the leading independent high purity pump repair
company in the United States.
In 2000 Edwards was sold to Hypro Corporation. Hypro was sold to
Pentair Corporation in 2004 and the divisions of Edwards (Fire Services
and Semiconductor) were split, with Fire Services going to Pentair
and Semiconductor returning to private ownership.
The EMI acronym, which is how the Semiconductor Division was known,
was changed to “Engineered Machinery Inc.” The phone,
fax and email addresses have changed, but the people and
location remain the same.
EMI has the same Clean Room, test equipment, fabrication equipment
and machine shop (less the large automated machinery for making
gear pumps) that it’s always had. The Technicians are the
same people who helped grow Edwards’ business and are skilled
in all areas of pump assembly, test and repair, from Edwards gear
pumps to High Purity repairs.
